New music

The latest new music I've been listening to is the Tron: Legacy Soundtrack! Daft Punk did a great job. I only wish the tracks were longer and that there were more of them. My favorites so far:

How to Train Your Dragon!

Just got back from watching this movie at the Century City IMAX in 3D.  OMG, cutest, funniest dragon movie ever!!!  They did such a great job with this movie!  That dragon is so meltingly cute.  There were so many funny parts...I was laughing all the way through the movie.  I was expecting it to be more cheesy and aimed at younger kids.

I still want to watch Alice in Wonderland.

went to Sephora

I stopped by Sephora on my walk back from the gym today.  I needed to get a moisturizer and I wanted something that would go with the facial cleanser that I bought (Philosophy: Purity & Peter Thomas Roth: Gentle Complexion Correction Pads).  The girl who helped me pointed me to the Boscia moisturizer with sunscreen.  I also picked up 2 more products for skin lightening.  She recommended natural products, specifically the Ole Henriksen "truth serum collagen booster" for day and the "enlighten me pigment lightening serum" for night.  She also gave me samples for the Ole Henriksen eye cream and enzyme mask.  I got to try out a foundation too.  I mentioned that I have the Bare Escentuals mineral powder, but she suggested I try a liquid foundation, specifically a brand called NARS, but geez... $42 for a small 1 oz. bottle!  O_o  The other stuff was pretty expensive already.  $48 for each of the Ole Henriksen bottles and $36 for the tube of Boscia moisturizer.

We watched the movies Coraline and Doubt this weekend.  Coraline reminded me a lot of Pan's Labyrinth, except for perhaps a younger crowd.  I didn't really want to watch Doubt.  It frustrated me that it ended without a satisfying resolution.  I don't like stories like that because as Lawrence explained, it's not about the story.  It's about ideas, which in this case was the idea of "doubt".  Apparently Julie & Julia and The Hurt Locker were all rented out at our Blockbuster.

Movies

Just watched Avatar in IMAX 3D at Universal Citywalk.  I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.  It's something I could see myself really getting into if they came out with more stories.  It gave me the same feeling I got from the fantasy & sci-fi I read in high school, like Anne McCaffrey's stuff.  And for some reason it also reminded me of the line for Star Tours at Disneyland.

After taking a quick perusal through the trailers on Apple, these are the movies that look interesting: Sherlock Holmes movie.  Other interesting ones coming up: The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Alice in Wonderland, Clash of the Titans, Iron Man 2, Prince of Persia - Sands of Time, Robin Hood, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, The Lightning Thief (doesn't look so bad for a young adult-targeting film...or maybe I just reallly have a thing for anything in the fantasy genre).

Some movies that are already out I probably want to watch...Up in the Air, Burn After Reading (yeah, that came out a while ago), and Inglourious Bastards.

Up

I went to watch Up last night with Lawrence and Phillip. That was a great movie - I cried and I laughed. It was very touching, even though I was annoyed with myself the whole time that I couldn't stop thinking about the physics of it all.

I loved the pre-movie animated short as well. That one almost made me cry.

movies

I saw X-Men Origins: Wolverine last week and I liked it! However, there were some elements that were visually disturbing to me and I had to wuss out and not look. If I wanted to see grotesque surgical modifications then i would watch horror movies.

I really want to see the Star Trek movie. Maybe tomorrow night! Lawrence wants to go see it on the IMAX.

Other movies we want to watch...Up, Angels & Demons, Night at the Museum, Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince.
