Monday's workout

- Holding a 15lb weight in one hand, lunge forward & touch weight to ground, step back, left weight to shoulder and push up.
- Inchworms, one-legged.  After the push-up, raise one arm up, twisting the torso while putting weight on the other arm; repeat for the other side.
- In succession: 12 squats, 12 jumping squats, 12 lunges, 12 jumping lunges.
- Ab exercises: lying on a mat, press knees & upper body together (I actually had to put my hands down for support on this one); alternate lifting/lower legs without letting them touch the ground.

There may have been more, but I don't remember.  I ended up nauseous and cold for the next half hour.  I think it was a combination of the exertion with an infection I was recovering from as well as the complete lack of physical exertion for the previous week.

Workout

It was good to start exercising again after being bogged down by so much Thanksgiving food all last week.

- 15x - With a 10lb dumbbell in each hand, simultaneously lift one straight up while bending knees to touch the other one to the ground, then alternate.
- 15x - With those same dumbbells, jump feet into push-up position, do a push-up, jump feet forward and stand up holding the dumbbells; repeat.
- 15x - Lunges with the forward foot on one of those tiny BOSU balls.
- 15x - Squats with each foot on a tiny BOSU ball.
- 15x - Lastly - stepping side to side, landing on one foot and bringing the other foot behind.

All of this repeated 2x.

Etsy for Foodies

Becky, I'm glad I keep up with your Twitters.  I hadn't heard of this site before, but Foodzie looks very interesting, especially since right now I'm in more of a food/cooking phase than a crafting phase.  It looks like Etsy for food producers.  You can search for sellers in your local area and they value sustainability, using recyclable materials, making their foods from local farms, using organic ingredients, etc.

Workout

Last night~

x30 2-handed swings with the 12kg kettlebell
x20 1-handed swings on each side
x15 a cable cross-body exercise, with each arm, once with the arm near the weights and once with the arm far from the weights as they cause you to use different arm muscles
x15 jump feet back, push-up, jump feet forward, jump up, repeat, holding onto two small 9lb weights (I think?).

Moderation

I made garlic cheese biscuits on Saturday.  They were absolutely delicious.  I tried not to, but I scarfed down a few.  This was a couple hours before we went out for Korean BBQ, and I just couldn't help myself.  :O  I had to finish off the last bite of biscuit before we stepped out the door.

Cooking [almost] every night?

I'm on a cooking roll!  I think what really kick started it all was when I subscribed to several cooking blogs.  They'd have really awesome sounding recipes, often using foods I never considered cooking before.  Before long it turned into a culinary adventure!  :)  I can't even keep up with tracking all of it here.  These are a few recipes I made lately that I ended up really liking:

smittenkitchen: moroccan-spiced spaghetti squash

The Wednesday Chef: carmelized corn with fresh mint

Just Hungry: new potatoes with butter and soy sauce

Spiced Pumpkin Ice Cream

Monday workout

Circuit of 3 exercises, repeated 3 times:

15x Circular push-ups on the Smith machine bar in each direction.
15x Circular inverted rows on the Smith machine bar in each direction.
15x "Asterisk lunges" in each direction holding two 15lb dumbbells (lunge forward and touch dumbbells to ground, lunge to the side with the same leg bent and touch dumbbells to the ground, lunge backward with the same leg and touch dumbbells to the gound)
