These can be expensive if you buy one from a cookware store. What you can do instead is go to a hardware store and buy a "quarry stone" which is a non-glazed ceramic tile. It needs to be non-glazed and lead-free, made completely from clay. I've heard that this alternative does the job starts at $.99.
